The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is protected by law and is reserved for the protection of animal and plant life.
The Reserve falls under the control of the Nature Reserves Board, which comprises 10 trustees with scientific expertise.
The laws applying to the Reserve are:
· The Nature Reserves Act, 1970
· The Nature Reserves (Amendment) Act, 1973
· The Bird Sanctuaries Order, 1970
· The Wild Animals and Birds Act, 1970

Under the Nature Reserves Act, it is forbidden to destroy, damage, deface, or remove any animal, plant or property in the Reserve. The penalty for any breach of this Act is a fine up to S$1000 and/or 6 months imprisonment.

THE GOLDEN RULE: Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footsteps.
